Independent label: Brazil 45s a Sub-label of Mr Bongo Records. Brazil 45s is a series of sought after 'golden era' 1960s and 1970s Brazilian music pressed on 7" vinyl including rare as well as previously unreleased tracks. Mr Bongo Records is a former record shop and now label. It started life in 1989 as a small record shop underneath Daddy Kool’s Reggae Store on Berwick Street in London. It was the first shop to sell vinyl releases from independent hip hop labels such as Def Jam, Rawkus, Nervous and Big Beat outside of the USA. It also became an established bearer for hard-to-find, classic Latin music, particularly Brazilian, outside of the Americas. Over the following years Bongo Records moved three times within Soho and opened in Shibuya, Japan. It moved there offices to Brighton in 1999 and closed all shops in 2003.
