Gypsy Hotel Records was a DIY label Formed by The Urban Voodoo
Machine. It managed three singles. It issued singles in an
GHRS-000 numerical series. The Urban Voodoo Machine is a Seven to ten-piece band
hailing from Dalston, East London, the Urban Voodoo Machine play “Bourbon soaked
gypsy blues bop ‘n’ stroll”. They have been together since 2003. The Urban
Voodoo Machine also run a club night Gypsy Hotel on the first and third Saturday
of the month at Bardens Boudoir, featuring burlesque and alt-cabaret as well as
live music. Band Members: Paul-Ronney Angel (vocals, harmonica, guitar, slide
guitar, banjo, mandolin), Nick "Nasty" Marsh (guitar, backing vocals), Barney
Hollington Esq (violin), Dr. Loyd Gomez DeVille (trumpet, maracas, tambourine),
The Reverend Gavin Smith (contrabass), The Late J-Roni-Moe (hi-hat, snare, floor
tom), Joe "Mongo" Whitney (melodica, washboard, bodhrán, banjolele), Slim
(piano, accordion), Jary (hi-hat, snare, floor tom), Lucifire (tenor saxophone,
alto saxophone), Brother Jim Jones (floor tom, maracas, harmonica). Wilko
Johnson Real Name: John Peter Wilkinson (born 12 July 1947, Canvey Island,
Essex) is an English guitarist and songwriter, particularly associated with the
UK rhythm and blues band Dr. Feelgood in the 1970s. Johnson and Dr Feelgood have
been credited as one of the founding influences of the British punk movement.
