Independent label: Lucky Seven
Records were founded by the British band Madness. The launch of this new record
label enabled them to release their new material. So far the label has released
six Madness singles including "Sorry", "NW5", "Dust Devil", "Sugar and Spice",
"Forever Young", "My Girl 2" and the albums The Liberty of Norton Folgate, which
returned Madness to the top ten of the UK Albums Chart, and Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja
Da Da. Lucky Seven Records is not the first Madness Label to be set up. Zarjazz
Records, a sub label of Virgin Records. The name Lucky Seven is taken from the
fact that the band has seven members and Madness had their most success when all
members were together. It issued singles in an LUCKY-000S numerical series.
Madness are an English ska band from Camden Town, London, that formed in 1976.
One of the most prominent bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s 2 Tone ska
revival. Current members Chris Foreman – guitar Mike Barson – keyboards, pianos,
vibraphone, and backing vocals Lee Thompson – saxophone, percussion, and backing
vocals Chas Smash – trumpet, backing vocals, dancing, harmonica, acoustic
guitar, bass guitar Graham "Suggs" McPherson – lead vocals Daniel Woodgate –
drums, percussion and Mark Bedford — bass guitar. Distributed By Virgin
