Independent label: Fontana Records managed two
singles, one was a Promo only box set The singles are housed in plain black
die-cut sleeves. Tracks was Duffy Stay With Me Baby, Dusty Springfield You Don't
Have To Say You Love Me, Procol Harum A Whiter Shade Of Pale, Cat Stevens Father
And Son, Martha Reeves And The Vandellas Dancing In The Street, The Turtles
Elenore, The Who My Generation, David Bowie Let's Dance , The Kinks
All Day And All Of The Night, Jeff Beck Hi Ho Silver Lining- The other was a
Diana Dors Record Released for Record Store Day 2014. Fontana started in the
1950s as a subsidiary of the Dutch Philips Records; when Philips restructured
its music operations it dropped Fontana in favor of Vertigo Records. The name
has also been revived as independent label distributor Fontana Distribution. In
the UK and Europe, the Fontana label was largely dormant after 1974, although in
1980-81 it was used for releases by Sector 27 and Dennis Bovell. Fontana was
revived in the late 1980s as an outlet for acts such as Tears for Fears, the
Teardrop Explodes, Pere Ubu, Cocteau Twins and Swing Out Sister, and was active
in the 1990s, releasing music for acts such as House of Love, Gorky's Zygotic
Mynci, Ocean Colour Scene and James. It is currently an active division of
Fontana Distribution, using the same logo. Distributed By Fontana Distribution
